After having followed this thread silently, I'd like to throw in my € 0.02.

Of course, it's not about the 10 seconds it would take actually changing the
language for one identity; it's rather about the time it might take to find
out about this (and obviously John had to invest more than just 10 seconds for
this), and about what default someone not so familiar with the special
functionalities would expect as a default.

What I would expect, for example, would be that if I set up the system in one
language, and change the system language later on, that all those applications
which picked the system langauge initially would follow that change. (Example
scenario: install in US English, as this ist the default anyway, and switch to
UK English later on for spelling purposes).

Actually, what I'm missing in the identity configuration / dictionary
selection is an option to "just use the system default".

What I would propose is to add such a selection, and make it the default
value. This would leave an "untouched" kmail follow the global system
settings, and still leave the possibility to assign specific languages where
needed. For me this would give a more "natural" feeling of the configuration
part.

Just my 2 cents.

Andreas
