Ok, please check the type of the Local Folders resource (e.g in 
akonadiconsole), is it maildir or mixedmaildir? If it is mixedmaildir, try 
to import the mails into a maildir resource.

Another idea might be that the nepomuk indexing is slowing down the folder 
access, you could check this by looking at the running processes and 
checking what is using the CPU.
