But where was the database stored? Maybe I can find out the status ex post 
from the .kde directory backup? Or is the database stored elsewhere?

If the sent status cannot be derived & retransferred from the old data 
automatically, it would be of great help if I could tweak it manually at 
least. Do you see a possibility to change sent status (by SQL or similar) 
directly?
