Not you alone. I tried all the ideas and still run into the problem. The 
one where you save the list in kmail is fine until you want to add or 
deleted a contact in the group. Only way I found was deleted the group 
and recreate with the new contact.

As I said in my post above Its easiler for me to just use SeaMonkey 
until Kmail, addressbook, contacts etc get sorted out. Akonadi Resouses 
have been used since I first had this problem.
