Two "Yes" and one "No" for that.

a) Yes, the problem is always there, every time I send a mail, across two servers and three 
accounts. But I never had this before, using Kontact for many years now. I do not suffer from 40 
seconds of delay, but I have to wait  8-10 seconds every time with a greyish window and a stalled 
Kontact.

b) Yes, I am using Kwallet.

No, GPG-agent is not running here. Sorry if I got that wrong.

Could it be that there is trouble with the SSL-certificates? If I send/fetch mail from a mail server 
that is using a self-signed certificate, I have to confirm the cert every time I start Kontact/Kmail 
- it does not remember the cert across sessions, even if I click on "remember it permanently".

BTW, I like your work a lot. I want to mention that (apart from the akonadi adressbook stuff) these 
two things are the only  problems I can see with Kontact of KDE SC 4.4.0 up to now, and it is a 
great piece of software!
