[kdepim-users] Delays when sending mail

By 4.3.98 KMail was behaving so much better that I thought the delay problem 
was completely solved.  Sadly, recently I've started experiencing the delays 
again.  I just timed sending a simple message to a single address.  KMail was 
frozen for 40 seconds - this while gpg-agent was active, so it wasn't waiting 
for a passphrase.

Is there any suggestion of anything I can check to troubleshoot this?
