VBoxusers --
I think that this is a reference either to "VirtualBox" or to
"VirtualBox-OSE" (Open Source Edition). These products, like VM-Ware
and others, are installed under a "host" operating system and then allow
the installation of one or more (licensed) "guest" operating systems.
This is NOT a "dual-boot" environment -- one can switch between the host
and any running guest with no more than the click of a mouse. It is
very nice, but it does add some complications -- like needing to know
exactly which OS you are working-in at any one time!
My host is Kubuntu Jaunty (9.04). At this time, my only guest is
Windows XP Pro. I use WinXP almost exclusively for my Bible-study
software -- Logos / Libronix. I "love" it!!!
Anne, I really doubt that VirtualBox is part of the problem you are
trying to solve. I only write because you might -- or might NOT -- be
familiar with the product, the product category, etc., and I want you to
have as much relevant information as possible. For example, you might
ask David whether or not he has previously used any virtualization
software and what its current status is. Best of good fortune on this
messy one. Let me know if I can be more helpful.
