Weird. In the context menu for the [Gmail] "folder" Properties is disabled 
here.

I have the same setup as you but running Jaunty with these repos enabled.

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main restricted
