I run Ubuntu so I downloaded "deb"s from: 

  http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/utils/kpilot

I downloaded a few dependencies as well (dpkg will complain if anything is 
missing).  After that I pinned kpilot to 3.5.10.

Alternately you can get the sources from svn:

  svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/branches/KDE/3.5/kdepim/kpilot/

and follow the instructions in the various docs.  Do not follow the 
instructions on the KPilot site:

  http://cvs.codeyard.net/kpilot/develop.php#sources

as they pertain to KDE4.2/Akonadi and that's probably not what you want.
