 Have you checked you Autostart directory? Is there a desktop file that has 
anything to do with kmail? Its exact location can be found in "System Settings 
/ About me / Folders" (or similar; I use a localized environment). For 
example, mine is "/home/spiros/.kde/Autostart/"
