[kdepim-users] symbolic link

I am trying to use a symbolic link between kmail and a separate data file.
The link doesn't work for the inbox even though there are massages in my data 
file. the link is setup between /home /username/.kde.share/apps/kmail/mail 
and the data file.
 The old received mail isn't recognized in the inbox but it is in the 
file /kmail/mail/inbox/curr.
The sent mail is recognized in the sendbox and the trash mail is recognized in 
the trash box.
The sendbox mail can be opened but the trash mail can't. Also the trash folder 
can't be deleted for the data file mail when I try to delete the items in the 
trash box, a crash occurs.
All new mail is processed correctly. 
I am using Gutsy.,  Qt: 3.3.7, KDE: 3.5.9, Kontact: 1.2.9, KMail: 1.9.9 and 
Hardy,   
Qt: 3.3.8b,  KDE 4.4.0.3,  KMail 1.9.9
Is it possible to make this link work?
