Hi Ingo.
I think he means a prob I've been facing for a few weeks on Ubuntu Hardy and KDE 3.5.9 - Kmail 1.9.9.
The quick search bar is missing and so is the enable shortcut on the "Settings" file menu.

Only after I look around on the "configure kmail" window I was able to enable it again (Appearance -> Message List -> Show Quick Search
But that is not so easy or fast to dis/enable.

Havent yet reported on LP due to lack of time.
I'll see if I can report it today.
