and, well, it works now, partly due to some hints from these discussions,
partly from what I remember from my last experience (~1.5 years ago).
anyways, the whole procedure is kind of a mess, at least far from beeing
intuitive ;-) - additionally, rather fragile (importing my ~300 kontacts from
local resource to the dimap folder resulted in 3 crashes, then a bunch of
weird error messages, but in the end, success).
moreover, I still don't get it why one has to setup a dimap account for
groupware functions instead of just beeing able to use an existing (plain)
imap account.
I hope akonadi will dramatically improve this situation (will it ?).

p.s.:
the kontacts copy process (local -> imap) replaced any umlauts in my kontacts
with ?'s ...
