[kdepim-users] gpg/kgpg problems

KDE 3.5.9 (according to kmail's 'About'), Kontact 1.2.9, KMail 1.9.9, distro 
Mandriva 2008.1, desktop KDE 4.0.4.

KMail is set to automatically import keys, but it doesn't.  What's more, if I 
use kgpg's key manager and ask it to search for a key it tells me that no 
keys are found.  Using the command-line to search the same key-server I can 
import the key.

Also, closing the key management console removes the icon from the panel.

Any ideas what might have gone wrong?
