Just one wild guess: Maybe you must configure, where the IMAP subfolders are 
stored, your home directory for example. 

The IMAP server running on my root server on SUSE Linux 10.1 is configured to 
use the INBOX folder at /var/spool/mail/[username] but to store its 
subfolders in the homedir of each user.

Could you check this and give feedback?
