I never even realised there had been a GO menu :-)  What I, and many others. 
use is the space bar.  That gives screen down while you are reading a 
message, then next unread message, including ones in the next folder, if you 
have set that up in the Misc tab of kmail configuration.  Enter still gives 
you a separate read window.  HTH
