It did help, thanks for the tip. I think single file storage system may be a 
little too corruption-prone when the number of contacts exceed a certain 
amount. Excuse my analogy, but I thought it was almost like the registry file 
of windows.

Anyway, there are no "hiccups" or instabilities now, but one little problem: I 
am deleting the original address book (single file storage type) over and 
over again, but it keeps re-appearing in the list everytime I start kontact. 
I even went ahead and deleted the vcf* files in kabc folder, but it didn't 
help. Perhaps this is an issue of a non-enterprise edition software. Any 
ideas?
