If you provide -15 (instead of -9, which is default) it will close any app and 
not kill it.
normally I do try to close apps rather than kill, but if they go not 
responding, or lock up my session, then pkill is a lifesaver. With the -15 
option ( which I was unaware off) it looks even better.
