This bug report belongs to a very old, unmaintained version.
Also, there's nothing I can do without having remote access to the file.

I can say that I've been testing a lot of remote files recently and haven't
encountered this.

=> I will close as unmaintained.
If you still encounter this will a more modern version (say version 6.3 or
above), feel free to re-open.
I will need a access to the remote file for debugging purposes however.
