So, I did more testing and found out the following:
- NordVPN installed the official way using this manual
https://support.nordvpn.com/hc/en-us/articles/20398426993809-Installing-and-using-NordVPN-on-openSUSE-Linux
leads to Kontact/KMail/KOrganizer being offline all the time.
- Unistalling the app NordVPN restored Kontact/KMail/KOrganizer being online
again.
- Installing NordVPN manually in KDE Networkmanager by importing the VPN
connection file from my NordVPN account gives me a working VPN while
maintaining Kontact/KMail/KOrganizer being online. So that's the fix.
Side note: I email NordVPN with the problem. Maybe they can find an easier fix.
