I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you tried. Most likely you did try to
decrypt or verify a file which is neither an OpenPGP file nor an S/MIME file.

You'll have to give us some more information what file you tried to decrypt or
verify and why you think that this file is signed or encrypted with OpenPGP or
S/MIME.
