            Bug ID: 436369
Summary: One IMAP e-mail check uses 217 MB of traffic
           Product: Akonadi
           Version: 5.17.0
          Platform: openSUSE RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: IMAP resource
          Assignee: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
          Reporter: bizyaev at zoho.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
By default, an e-mail account in KMail is synced every 5 minutes, and every
time it generates 217 MB of incoming traffic. For a machine that is connected
to the Internet 16 hours a day, this amounts to 40 GB of traffic daily. I think
this is unacceptable for an e-mail client.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add an e-mail account to KMail
2. Start nethogs to monitor akonadi_imap_resource traffic, or watch bandwidth
in KSysGuard

OBSERVED RESULT
High traffic usage for regular e-mail checks

EXPECTED RESULT
Manageable traffic usage
