            Bug ID: 424858
Summary: An option to display notifications for a feed in
Akregator until it is closed by the user
           Product: akregator
           Version: 5.9.2
          Platform: Debian stable
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
          Reporter: myndstream at protonmail.ch
  Target Milestone: ---

It would be useful if there was an option for feeds in Akregator to show
notifications until the notifications are closed by the user.

This way you could always get notified for a new item in a feed without having
to check the feed (e.g. by opening a website or by opening Akregator).

This would probably be most useful for feeds with only few items.

With notifications I'm referring to the KDE notifications usually on the bottom
right or top right of the screen which other apps (including the browser with
plasma-browser-integration) can also use (afaik all using notify-send).

These things would probably be separate feature-requests:

- The notification box would also display the content of the feed-item, not
just the title.

- There could be an additional "read"-status for items which were displayed in
a notification box but not read within Akregator ("semi-read").

- It would be more useful if it was also possible to show multiple
notifications for each new item in a feed instead of only one which has the
number of unread items. This would require a way to close all currently
displayed notification boxes for the feed as well as all Akregator feeds with a
single click (and the same for all including undisplayed ones e.g. if there are
many "pages" of notification items).

- Instead or in addition to multiple notifications for each new item there
could also be larger (by height) notification boxes (which contain many
feed-items).

- Instead of having to close the notification boxes by clicking on some
close/X-button (either for each item or the large notification boxes as
suggested above) there could also be another way to register that the currently
displayed notification boxes have been read. For example there could be a mouse
gesture that closes all the currently displayed notification boxes or the
notification-box the user hovered the mouse over. These things could be options
for the feed and/or in Akregator.

Maybe something similar has already been asked about or been built into similar
software. I haven't thoroughly explored the idea and am interested in any kind
of feedback to it.
