So, this bug is still ongoing, for more than one year. 

When Kontact can't register an account with the login page, it should at least
point out to a help page which contains more information about that.

Apart from that:

GMail is one of the largest providers in the world and KDE one of the largest
IDEs out there - it should be possible to find a solution for the users!
