I'd say also, since this looks to me more of a legal than software issue, shall
we (users) do anything/complain everywhere, just ask us. I'm personally keen in
using Kmail since it's a great client - I think others here also are, and would
surely participate to a group complain to Google or anything similar. 
Hadn't it ever worked I'd be like "ok, never mind", but it did. It's
unacceptable.
