Sorry, perhaps I was not clear enough. These config sections are not for
disabling the html status bar, but for changing its appearance.

These are my settings in the Reader section of kontactrc and kmail2rc:

ColorbarBackgroundHTML=250,251,252
ColorbarBackgroundPlain=250,251,252
ColorbarForegroundHTML=0,116,185
ColorbarForegroundPlain=250,251,252

I configured it so that the background of the html status bar always matches
the window background color (according to the color scheme you use), and for
the text color, I set it to blue when HTML is active, and virtually invisible
otherwise (by matching the color of the background in plain text emails).
