It is still valid for kmail 5.2.3. Kmail won't apply filters to incoming
messages in IMAP folders other than Inbox.
https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kdepim-users/2017-March/000620.html discusses a
bit about the issue.

One implication is that the antispam won't work on IMAP folders either, which
is a big problem for people who do all their filtering server-side.
