Norbert, thanks for your report. I'm afraid it won't happen, though, unless
some extremely motivated new developers show up. Akonadi is deeply rooted in
the PIM apps.

However, you might want to try a (much) more recent version of the KDE PIM
suite. KDE PIM 4.14 has been unsupported since August 2015, and a huge amount
of bugs has been fixed since then.
