            Bug ID: 374506
Summary: wrong error message when smtp password is wrong
           Product: kmail2
           Version: 5.3.0
          Platform: openSUSE RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: misc
          Assignee: kdepim-bugs at kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

I receive the following error message
Your SMTP server does not support
> > PLAIN. Choose a different authentication method. The server responded:
> > "5.7.8 Error: authentication failed:"

correcting the password causes this message to disappear.

openSuse Leap 42.2 64 bit.

Additional information:
This "wrong password" happens due to upgrade from opensuse 13.2 to 42.2.
Password storage and transfer during upgrade did not work as expected.
