[kmail2] [Bug 368350] folder full text search doesn't work : folder status always 'still not indexed'

After running balooctl stop I removed .local/share/baloo/emai* and rebooted.

Baloo appears hung :

$ balooctl status
Baloo File Indexer is running
Indexer state: Indexing file content
Indexed 15615 / 117946 files
Current size of index is 76.73 MiB

how do I find out what it is actually doing ?

Toggleing search off and on via system settings then rechecking just returns it
to the same position.
