This also works in Kmail5.  Paul Eggleton posted a work around using
Akonadiconsole which works as well.  I'll ask the same question here as well. 
Does the remove duplicate emails function in "folders" accomplish the same
result?

I haven't seen this question asked (may have missed it) but, does filtering in
Kmail conflict with filtering in Gmail?
