I'm having the same problem with 4.14.1 under debian jessie. Immediately
returning no search results no matter what I type.

Part of me wants to say this is the last straw with kmail2, but I've said it
before too much already. I think the only reason I've been staying with it is
because of the convenience of kde's kioslaves. It makes me sad because kmail1
was one of my *favourite* applications.
