got the same problem for a very long time now (debian/testing). my system
(currently) is:

Application: akregator (4.14.1)
KDE Platform Version: 4.14.2
Qt Version: 4.8.6
Operating System: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 x86_64
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux 8.0 (jessie)

out of interesting stuff, when starting akregator on a console it shows:

QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
Application may misbehave.
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
Application may misbehave.
QSystemTrayIcon::setVisible: No Icon set


and then, when closing it it crashes:
