In the intervening  5 years since my earlier request I had to give up using
that convenient facility and have since moved on to KMail2 in the shape of
KMail 4.12.5 on Mageia-4,  looking forward to later versions when Mageia-5 is
released later this year.
  I have also been looking at the excellent Thunderbird as an alternative email
agent, whose handling of maildir is almost at the stage where I could change
ships.
