About eleven and a half year. And… since I was using KMail after switching my
mail to Linux from YAM (Yet Another Mailer) for AmigaOS and only recently dig
into IMAP with Sieve I wasn't even aware that deleting could mean anything else
than moving to trashcan unless I had a look at Trojitá. At first I thought how
strangely Trojitá handles deleting mail… but now it makes sense.

Looks like a nice feature to have. But… I think the bug report is lost in…
space. And I suggest bringing this topic to kde-pim developer mailing list. Or
even implement it yourself…
