Hmm, I haven't seen this happen in a very long time. What database backend are
you using? Isn't there any Akonadi resource process stuck or going crazy?

If you run Akonadi from terminal (open konsole, run "akonadictl start", or
"akonadictl restart" if Akonadi is already running) does it print any warnings
or errors?
