I have tried downgrading Kontact with no success, using the "apt-get install
kontact=<version>" method, so cannot test the regression case suggested.

Also, I just received the 4.14 update and the account that was working, against
a server running Dovecot, now falls in the same way. So as of 4.14, it falls
for servers running both Courier and Dovecot.
