I had the same issue. I copied the default files into my home-path and now it
works propper!

I did this on ubuntu-linux 14.04:

cp /usr/share/kde4/apps/kaddressbook/viewertemplates/default/*
~/.kde/share/apps/kaddressbook/viewertemplates
