I also have this issue KDE 4.8.5 Kubuntu 12.04. When I run Kmail or Kalarm
multiple processes (like 15-20) of akonadi_agent_launcher are running and
consume all CPU. When you google akonadi_agent_launcher there is a lot of
examples of users reporting this issue.
