I went through Kwallet and found numerous password entries for the IMAP account
that was steamrolling my system.

Have deleted all of these and re-ran Kmail to get this password reset.

Krunner is showing akonadi_imap_resource now behaving - staying down in the CPU
order.

See what goes with this.
