I do not experience this anymore after the upgrade to KDE 4.10(.1). I am on
Kubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin), KDE 4.10. comes from
http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu

I had it in 4.8.4 (see comment #6) but it is now fixed for me.
