Changed the affected product from "Kmail" to "Akonadi".
Apparently it's a issue with developmental version of akonadi-1.9.0 in the
optional testing KDE repo.
I've stopped akonadi, cleaned akonadi's stuff in ~/.kde/share/config/ ,
~/.config/akonadi/ , ~/.local/share/akonadi , ~/.kde/share/apps/akonadi* ,
distro-synch'd with latest akonadi up to updates-testing's repos (disabling the
optional kde testing repos, apt/kde-redhat ) , restarted akonadi, and it's
fine.
It was (and is) running with SQLite.
