Same problem with KDE 4.10. The data is impossible to access, I kept all the
backups but I really would like to have my data back. Simply moving the folder
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/knotes/ (for example if one wants to start with a fresh
$HOME/.kde/ on a major update) causes the data to become totally inaccessible,
even when moved back to it's original location.

This problem exists since several KDE versions,  I already lost previous notes,
that happened on nearly every major KDE upgrade since 4.7, moving the data
folder makes the content impossible to access. I kept all the backups but I
really don't have a clue on how to get that data back.
