I am seeing this behaviour too.

I am running a local Courier IMAP server and I noticed this in mail.log - one
connection from my local mail client running on the desktop on the same
network, and another connecting from an external network. In both cases the
client is akonadi_imap on KDE 4.10.1 desktop.

Also from the same desktop I am connecting to another Courier IMAP and I was
told by a sysadmin of that system that the same behaviour is noticed, ie flood
of connect/disconect.

I am happy to provide my Courier and my client settings if that may help.
