I too find the current behavior a problem. In KMail-1, it was possible to add
the invitation to the calendar, but not send the response. I need to do this,
since Akonadi still does not have an exchange connector. Thus to get
invitations on my phone, I need to let Android accept the invitation, which
puts it into my exchange calendar. I then want to accept the invitation into
KOrganizer, so I also get it onto my desktop calendar. With automatic sending
of responses, the originator gets two responses.

This may be a KOrganizer issue, as there may be relationship to bug 310889.
