            Bug ID: 310565
          Severity: minor
           Version: unspecified
          Priority: NOR
          Assignee: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
Summary: Deleting all feeds in akregator crashes analog
                    multimedia system in Alsa
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux
          Reporter: nostromo17 at gmail.com
          Hardware: Ubuntu Packages
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
         Component: general
           Product: akregator

Using Alsa in Unbuntu 11.04 when deleting all feeds after they are read a
message pops up that the analog multimedia system part of the sound card is no
longer working -though running a video in VLC shows it is...so while
functionality seems not to be affected the occurrance of a pop up seems
bizarre.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.mark all feeds in akregator as read
2.select all feeds under "Feeds" heading right click and click on delete
3.
Actual Results:
a pop up saying analog multimedia portion is no longer working

Expected Results:
expect no pop-up related to sound

Using a gnome desktop in Ubuntu 11.04 (now no longer supported) and Alsa sound
system to support Qjackctl with PulseAudio removed since it interferes with
Alsa/Jack operation and not inclined to upgrade since the new interface in
Ubuntu 12 etc. being forced on us due to misguided rulers of Ubuntu pandering
to 'touch screen' type almost computers for the masses leaves no choice except
to have to do the custumizations to the new desktop to make it an old style
desktop and would have to do all the alterations for sound I have already done
to get Alsa and jack to work. Have tried KXStudio which doesn;t work with clean
install of Ubuntu 11.04 upgraded to current Ubuntu 12.xx nor does Ubuntu Studio
work out of the box. New desktop in Ubuntu is an equivalent misdesign to say
Windows 8. Good products gone stupidly bad following phone interface fashion
abandoning historical 'desktop' features dumbing down the world to the lowest
common denominator ignoring the previous experience of desktop users which
should be built on because people are already trained in it versus abandoned
losing ease of adoption. Don't fix what works well withsomething that may work
ok but doesn't work well with people used to what already worked well. DUH. If
anything there should be versions that may or may not overlap functionally so
people can choose and let the best version win.
Shoving a single solution down the consumer's throat means choice may mean not
adopting the new at all...a dead end backwardization of the interface. Much
more could be said and yes it seems unrelated to the bug report but its not.
Jumping through hoops to make Alsa and Jack work in 11.04 was enough starting
all over to make them work in 12.04 I tried and just say no.
TOo bad Unbuntu is going down the wrong path.
