Now, I've imported some more mails using kmailcvt. The contents of 
file_db_data jumped up to 87MB. There clearly is something wrong with this.

btw: During the whole procedure all information on attachment and encryption
status that is normally shown in the message list was lost. It doesn't even
reappear when clicking on a message.
