I was able to save the list by using "edit message (t)" and then it worked.
After the upgrade to 4.8.4 it seems to work, although sometimes with delays.
This seems to me like one symptom of nepomuk/akonadi being very slow in
responding sometimes (sometimes it can take a minute for a message to show up
in preview or to open it). There are bug reports around for this problem, so
this one probably is a duplicate...
