Works for me too using 4.8.80 from the OpenSuSE unstable repository.  
Matching results in the address book are offered after about 3 or 4 characters
are typed in.
Not sure about how the results are pesented though, or indeed where some of the
matches come from as they don't look familiar to me.  Will investigate some
more during the next week or two.
