Session restoration seems to work as expected in Kubuntu 11.10 after the
Backport PPA updated to 4.8.0.

Don't know about launching kleopatra.

Too late for me anyway, kmail2/kraponadi caused me data loss and destroyed the
reputation of everything K in my eyes.  I switched to Thunderbird (which I had
not used since v1.5 and has made giant strides forward in the last five years)
and the kleopatra function is replaced by the Thunderbird extension Enigmail.
